“We (OLSS students) found 111 pieces of rubbish at the beach, our class was devostated.” Pasquale, Grade 5 Student.

Science Inquiry at Kitty Miller Bay

Our Lady Star of the Sea (OLSS) visited Kitty Miller Bay on a sunny and windy day in May 2018. OLSS senior students explored Kitty Miller beach, learning about our quarry and volcano island on a tour lead by Ranger Mike and his wife Pip.

Our students collected rubbish from the beach, and this has sparked our inquiry into fishing waste washing up on the shore.

In the next few weeks our senior students will be presenting their findings to our local Mayor, Cr Pamela Rothfield. Our students have been working on posters and presentations advocating for solution to the fishing waste found on the beautiful beach of Kitty Miller Bay.
