Sporting Schools Victoria
Thanks to Sporting Schools Victoria our students have the opportunity to participate in and are exposed to many sports. These programs compliment our schools physical education lessons drawn from the Victorian Curriculum.
Cross Country 2018
OLSS Grade 5 students joined in with St Joseph’s Cross Country event in Wonthaggi. Congratulations to Emily, Riley and Memphis for a fantastic effort in the cross country. Emily came 13th in the girls, Memphis came 22nd and Riley came 28th in the boys. We are very proud of all three students.
OLSS senior students attended sports day at St Joseph’s in Wonthaggi, competing in a range of field activities; long jump, short jump, discus, hurdles, sprints and a 2km run around the oval. Students of OLSS joined in on St Joseph’s houses and cheered on their captains in a race to end the sports day.
Local lacrosse player Johnny inspired our OLSS students with his enthusiasm and energy for lacrosse. Johnny coached students in catching, passing and throwing. Students ran relays and came away from the 6 weeks with Johnny with a love of playing lacrosse.
The AFL sporting schools program is designed to introduce students to the game of AFL through fun, engaging and challenging activities targeted to skill levels. Students really enjoyed the 6 weeks of clinics in term 2 and in term 3.
